FLY FISHING ELEMENTS ©
A couple years back I had the idea for a fly fishing apparel / accessory line called the "Element Series". Elements in a few ways - conceptually in that every angler has a thing...an element...in many cases manifesting in species....that drives him or her and is elemental to who they are as an angler. And graphically manifesting in a periodic element - i.e. the "Tarpon Element" or the"Musky Element", or past species to the "Dry FlyElement" or "Streamer Element". As a symbol, the periodic element also has terrific recognition - a universal if you will.
I did some concept work back then, but not knowing where to take it, I dropped it. Recently, I got a wild hair to finish the exercise on February 20th 2016. I believe "Elements" could translate to fly rods, not just apparel and accessories. Sage has the "One" and other "specialty rods" (Pike & Musy, Bass II, etc.) but what if there were a rod series per species - for example the "Element Series - Permit Rod", the one rod you need to chase Permit on the fly and incorporate the 'periodic element' graphic on the top of the rod tube. I could see it being an extension of the Sage "One" and also a new home for Sage's "specialty rods" while also complementing the overall Elements concept. I've never seen a line or brand effort market to this more holistically. And in many ways, that is the direction the industry is going - more niche, more specific, more technical and ultimately, more personal.
